Medicare and MedCall

Medicare doesn't certify video platforms. The usual MBS rules apply whichever tool you use.

The short version:

  • Medicare doesn’t approve or certify particular video platforms. The MBS telehealth guidance says no specific equipment is needed, and practitioners choose a solution that meets their clinical requirements and satisfies privacy laws.
  • Using MedCall doesn’t change what can be claimed. The usual MBS telehealth rules — including eligibility rules for GP telehealth items — apply the same way whichever video tool you use.
  • Claiming stays with you. Item selection, documentation and billing happen in your practice software.
