Every doctor gets a permanent room link, like medcall.au/r/dr-jo-rivers-7k2q. You’ll find yours on the Consults tab under Your room link.
How it works for the patient
- They open the link from their appointment reminder.
- They type their name and press Go to waiting room.
- They wait until you bring them in, the same as a normal consult.
They don’t need an app or an account.
How it works for you
The patient shows up in your Active list with a Room link tag. Press Join when you’re ready. Everything else, including the waiting room, chat and screen sharing, works as usual.
Put it in your practice software’s reminders
Most practice systems let you add text to appointment confirmations and reminders. Add your room link to the reminder for your telehealth appointments, so it goes out automatically with every booking.
- Halaxy: set the appointment Location to Online Consultation, then in Appointment Information click the video icon and paste your room link into Telehealth URL. Because your link never changes, you can also add it to your own confirmation and reminder templates in your practitioner settings, so it goes out with every telehealth booking.
- Cliniko, Power Diary, Nookal and others: add the link to the confirmation or reminder template for your telehealth appointment types.
If several doctors share one template, each doctor needs their own link, so set the reminder up per practitioner where your system allows it.
Getting a new link
If a link gets shared somewhere it shouldn’t, press Get a new link. The old link stops working straight away, so remember to update your reminder templates.
Room link or a one-off invite?
Use the room link for booked telehealth appointments that already get a reminder. Use New consult when you want to text or email a specific patient a link right now.
