Call records: print a record of any consult

What happened on each consult, how long it ran and who was there. Print or save as PDF for audits.

Every consult has a record in your dashboard. It comes from MedCall’s own logs, and our servers timestamp every event. Use it if a consult is ever questioned, for example by a Medicare audit.

Find a record

  1. Open the Records tab on your dashboard.
  2. Pick the dates, or search by the patient’s name, mobile or email.
  3. Click a consult to open its record.

You can also open a record from the Recent list on the Consults tab.

What’s in a record

  • The patient, your name, Ahpra number and provider number.
  • How the link was sent (SMS, email or your room link), and when the patient opened it.
  • When video connected and when the consult ended, and who ended it.
  • Connected time, and how long the patient waited.
  • Everyone in the call, including people you added, with the times they joined and left.
  • What happened, in order: camera or microphone switched off and back on, connection interruptions, people added or removed.
  • Call details: each person’s device, whether the call went direct or through an encrypted relay, picture quality, and how many chat messages and files were shared.
  • For GPs, the time band the connected time falls into. It’s a guide only. The right item depends on the service you provided and the patient’s eligibility.
  • One consult: open the record and press Print / Save as PDF. Choose Save as PDF as the printer if you want a file.
  • A whole period: on the Records tab, pick the dates and press Print all. Every record prints on its own page.
  • Spreadsheet: press Spreadsheet to download every consult in the range as a CSV file you can open in Excel or Numbers.

Who can see records

Only the doctor who ran the consult. Practice managers can’t see them.

How long records are kept

Seven years from the consult. Medicare can ask for documents about services claimed in the last two years. Your clinical notes in your practice software stay the main record, and MedCall’s record backs them up.
